Accessibility improvements: WCAG 2.1 compliance

We've made the Twilight Psychology website WCAG 2.1 Level AAA, Section 508, and ADA compliant. We want to hear about accessibility features that would help you.

We’re committed to making mental health care accessible to everyone, and that includes our website. We’ve recently completed an accessibility initiative to bring the Twilight Psychology site into compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AAA, Section 508, and ADA standards.

Level AAA is the highest level of accessibility compliance, and it ensures that our site is usable by people requiring accommodations for concerns including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

What We’ve Done

Our team implemented a range of accessibility improvements across the site:

  • Skip links to help keyboard users bypass repetitive navigation and jump directly to main content
  • Enhanced keyboard navigation in dropdowns and menus with proper arrow key, Escape, and focus management
  • ARIA live regions to announce navigation state changes to screen reader users
  • Improved focus indicators (3px outlines) that meet AAA contrast requirements
  • Abbreviation tooltips for terms like ADHD and PDA that might not be immediately clear
  • Better semantic HTML throughout to ensure all content is properly interpreted by assistive technologies

These changes benefit everyone using the site—not just those who rely on screen readers or keyboard navigation. Better structure and clarity make the site faster, more predictable, and easier to use.

We Want Your Input

Twilight Psychology serves a significant population of neurodivergent folks—people with ADHD, autism, and other neurological differences. We recognize that neurodiversity also includes differences in how people interact with the web.

If you use the site and there are accessibility features or adjustments that would help you navigate, learn about our services, or book an appointment more easily, please let us know. Reach out to us at contact@twilightpsychology.com or use our contact form with the subject “Accessibility Feedback.”

Your input helps us build a practice that truly meets people where they are—both in the clinic and online.
